Work has started on expanding the bandroom’s facilities and its car park.
By mid June, the recently purchased brick storage building had been raised to the ground, the trees uprooted and band members discouraged from using the cark park as it no longer existed! By the end of June, band members were being asked not to use the front steps because like the car park before them, they had been demolished and work had started on the foundations. At this point, the extension was the talk of the village and residents were beginning to take an interest in the work that was being done.
As the major transformations take place, players and supporters remain unfazed and it’s ‘business as usual’ here at the bandroom. While there is still some way to go before completion, developments can be seen daily and a bigger and better Skelmanthorpe Brass Band Community is evolving.
