2013 sees national recognition for Skelmanthorpe Brass Band Community’s treasurer, B Band baritone player and past Chairman of the International Association of Forensic Radiographers, Catherine Rock, as she receives an OBE for her services to Forensic Radiography. The Award ceremony will take place later in the year at Buckingham Palace where Catherine will rub shoulders with the likes of Hannah Cockroft, Nicola Adams and Bradley Wiggins along with fellow Shelley resident, Ann Priestman and Emley’s Pat Hampshire.
When asked how she feels to have been recognised in the New Year’s Honours List, Catherine said, “I am grateful and honoured to have received this award. I see it as appreciation of the importance of Forensic Radiography and recognition of the dedication and enthusiasm of Radiographers who apply their knowledge and expertise in this field, often giving up their time voluntarily to thispublic service.” She added, “I would like to pay a special tribute to the founder members of both the North of England Forensic Radiography Team and the International Association of Forensic Radiographers.”
Here at Skelmanthorpe we are tremendously proud of Catherine and delighted that her contribution has being recognised in such a prestigious manner.
